What we did:

  •  Lecture on the role of color, shape and line on stage
  • Quiz on the last two days of notes in class

What you need to get:

  •  Notes from a classmate

What you need to do:

  •  Schedule time to make up your quiz

What is due?:

  • Student information sheet (Tuesday)
  • Copy of Midsummer (Tuesday)
  • What project you will be doing report (Tuesday)

Creative Writing 8/30/13

What we did:

  •  Bellwork 2: What makes a good story?
  • Discussion on the types of Creative Non Fiction
  • Sample Creative Non Fiction essays
  • Brainstorming Activity

What you need to get:

  •  Notes from a friend on class discussion
  • Pick up the Annie Dillard essay we read in class to read

What you need to do:

  •  Brainstorming Activity:
    • Come up with 7-10 possibilities to write about in each of the 7 categories listed below
    • Hand written is fine, and any format is fine as well
    • Examples can be a few words – just so you know what event you are referring to.
    • Due on Tuesday
    • Categories: Gaining a new skill, What makes you unique (and how did you find out?), Change (in life/opinions), Gaining Independence, Places you’ve been (cultural experiences you’ve had), something you know/love, challenges you’ve overcome/are overcoming.

What is due?:

  • Student info sheet/survey (Tues.)
  • Brainstorming (Tues.)
  • Start thinking about your name . . .

  • Finished note taking on Shakespeare history/culture, etc.
  • Introduced basic stage types and terminology

What you need to get:

  •  Notes!  You will have a quiz on this information and the quiz is open note.

  • Bellwork: Use the following words in a paragraph/short (short!) story, poem, song. . . : Breakable, zesty, fang, quilt and chance.
  • Read a section from The Mother Tongue by Bill Bryson
  • Mad Libs
  • Revision of 15 words assignment

What you need to get:

  •  Pick up a copy of The Mother Tongue to read

What you need to do:

  •  Revised 15 Words assignment due TOMORROW

What is due?:

  •  Revised 15 Words assignment due TOMORROW
  • Student information sheet/class survey due Tuesday the 3rd

  • Class and Project Introduction
  • Historical Background to Shakespeare activity

What you need to get:

  •  Pick up the disclosure and each of the project sheets

What you need to do:

  •  Come talk with Miss Newman – she’ll tell you what you need to do to make up the activities for the day and explain the different projects for you.

What is due?:

  • Student information sheet due 9/3 (Tuesday)
  • Project pick due 8/30 (Friday)
  • Midsummer copy by 8/30 (Friday)

  •  Talk to Newman about the 15 words assignment
  • Complete the student survey and disclosure document

  • Signed disclosure document due Tuesday the 3rd
  • Student Survey and 15 Words due on Thursday the 29th
